California's Super Storm 2014

If you weren't aware... California has been in a major drought. Rainy days have been very few over the last couple years so when the weather center caught wind of storm headed our way, some people started to panic. There was a LOT of hype around the storm that hit California today so I can see how some people might have gone a little overboard in preparation for it arrival. We live in the East Bay and fortunately we stayed away from the major floods and winds. Other areas, like the North Bay and SF areas got hit pretty hard and suffered major flooding and high winds which knocked out power to many homes and businesses. For us, it was a welcome change and nice to have a long rainy day for once. We really REALLY need the rain. Although we got lucky and didn't see our streets flooded, we did get some awesome puddles to play in! The boy began to get a little stir crazy by noon so once the rain died down a bit we headed out to splash around. The boys had the time of their lives! The pictures say it all. They made water angels (poor kids have never been to the snow!) and jumped and jumped and jumped until they were shivering and shaking from the cold water. A nice warm bubble bath was a MUST to get cozy and all warmed again. I almost left the camera safe indoors for fear of water damage but I am SO glad I braved the rain and captured some great memories. This was little Fox's first real encounter with the rain and he just did what his brothers did. Boys will be boys! Although, if I had on better rain attire, I would have jumped right in there with them.

My A.B.C Life :: October Edition

My Awesome Beautiful Crazy Life
OCTOBER EDITION

We are a week out from Halloween folks... can you believe it?! Do you love Halloween?! My boys LOVE this holiday. They love all the spooky decorations they find in the stores, they enjoy all the houses that get festive and decorate their houses, they want to buy more candy then we could ever consume and they want to play dress up more than EVER! I was never a big fan of the holiday growing up because I am BIG SCARDY CAT! One thing my husband knows about me is that I don't watch scary movies and NEVER SCARE ME for fun. I will make you regret it. So the fact that my children enjoy the holiday so much at such a young age baffles me. But I do love an excuse to decorate so I play along and they love it. We watch "spooky" movies and shows, make gross food to eat like worms in blood (spaghetti) and print endless halloween color pages off google. So the fact that the big day is a week away is a big deal over here.
So I have been a BIG slacker with my camera since we found out I was great with child number 4. But I did manage to take a few pics this month and I thought I would share. California is still hanging on to summer which has us playing in the streets with friends while the light lingers in the evenings. But luckily we've had some nice 70 degree weather this past week which helps it feel more like fall. We got the chance to have a family outting to a local pumpkin patch and we had so much fun. We had  fun singing barn yard songs, petting farm animals, finding our way threw a corn maze and most importantly, picked out our pumpkins! Fox was fascinated by it all. He LOVED the pumpkin patch. I love traditions and I love the holidays. This is such a great time of the year. Do you have a favorite halloween tradition?! I'd love to hear in the comments! So in the spirit of the holiday, here are 13 of my favorite picks so far this month.

Santa Cruz, California

I know I am pretty much always down for the beach.
#ilovethebeach
um, but on a Saturday...
It can feel a little bit more like torture than relaxation.
Which is how this trip started.
We left at 10am and we weren't altogether on the beach until after 2pm!!!
(It's only supposed to take 2.5hrs)
The crowds were INSANE!
ugh!
But alas, we did make it safely and once I was able to watch the kids frolic in the ocean water, life was good and the craziness melted away.
I had a goal for this trip:
ENJOY!
Be present in the moment!
I really did try to enjoy myself. I didn't let my "mom mind" take over too much (you know the: who needs a snack, who has to go the the bathroom, can I see all 3 kids, why is everyone whining...) And I am happy to report that I really did enjoy the sounds, the smells, the scenery, the conversations, all of it. I just soaked it all up. This trip was special because it allowed me to be reunited with family that I had been unable to see for 20 yrs! My husband and kids were introduced to loved ones they had never seen or met before. It was wonderful. Don't you just LOVE family!? But I must admit, I had a favorite moment on the trip that was just for me. At the end of the day, despite my 3 yr old throwing up, I was able to take a few moments of "me time" on the pier and listened to the most beautiful cello player, play "sweet nightingale" as the sun disappeared over the mountains and the brightest moon rose over the water. It was only a hand full of minutes to myself but I don't think I'll forget it anytime soon. It was a single perfect moment in my little world. Moments like that can be rare and I ate it up. I am a tad short on images (I need to go alone one day and finally get all the shots I tell myself I will get each time I go) but here are a few gems that might need to be printed very soon.
Happy Friday!
Thanks for reading this little blog of mine.
Hopefully you're headed to the beach or somewhere just as wonderful this weekend.
PS: The BOMBSHELL blondes... are my sisters!

My A.B.C Life : Week 18

My Awesome Beautiful Crazy Life
part 18

Birthdays birthdays and more BIRTHDAYS! We have been partying a lot over here these past 2 weeks. We had a 1st birthday, a 29th birthday and a 3rd birthday! So much fun but I'm all caked out and we still have my birthday in a little over a week. Fox had a fun splash splash party, Dad didn't get a fun theme (we get boring as we get older) and Rex got a Paw Patrol theme. I am too lazy to go through and edit all the event pics so here are the cake highlights. Summer time is the BEST time for a birthday. Now go get a slurpee,  because its 7.11.2014 and they are FREE!!

My A.B.C Life :: week 15

My Awesome Beautiful Crazy Life
week 15

My not so little sister turn 20 years old a couple weeks ago! We had a fun girls night out and enjoyed a delicious italian dinner and ice cream cones. We may or may not have spontaneously sung happy birthday a cappella in front of a large group of people at the ice creamery just to embarrass the birthday girl. It was awesome. We also got to attend the fun backyard wedding/birthday fiesta for cousin and her daughter last weekend! My cousin Meryl and her boyfriend Chris of 9 years finally decided to tie the knot on their daughter Zoe's 1st birthday. Such a wonderful family celebration. We are all so happy for their little family. I loved all the cheerful D.I.Y decorations! Then we had FATHER'S DAY! So it TOTALLY snuck up on me this year. And I felt horrible not doing an awesome Father's Day tribute on this here blog like I did for all the moms out there, but with it sneaking up on me and it being a bit of a tricky holiday for me, it just didn't happen. But I was so happy to make it a special day for my husband who is an AMAZING dad. I sure picked a great one for my boys. They are so blessed to have him as their example. I smile the biggest smile knowing that I was able to bless them with that. They have what I lacked. What more could I ask for? We also took advantage of my grandmother visiting my grandpa's grave that day to teach our boys a little bit about their ancestors. We visited my grandpa Max's grave (this is who my Max is named after). It was cool to explain to them a little bit about death and what great man my grandpa was. It was a good day. My favorite part was having him read his Daddy questionnaire! It never disappoints. In other family news, my Rex is on a "I can't do it" kick. So we have been making him dress himself as much as possible much to his dismay. We also had a pet snail named Turbo for about a week. They even painted his shell. We have also been enjoying the warm sunshine and backyard pool. Summer time is in full swing and my boys love being outside and for the most part, naked! haha. Their tans are already out.of.control! I have 3 little copper tone boys already and it's only JUNE! Speaking of June... next week my baby Fox turns 1! I just don't know how that happened so fast. The discussion for baby #4 has begun...
