Early Maternity Leave Announcement
So I have a bit of bad news... I was hoping to wait to go on Maternity Leave until the middle of May but there have been some changes in my pregnancy that have caused me to be on semi-bed rest. Maternity Leave has officially started. I'm so sad too. I've already had to cancel an Engagement, Bridal and Children's shoot. So grateful for how understanding every one has been with the news. I hope to be up an running again by the end of summer. Hopefully kick things off with a Fair Session or two if I have anyone interested (looks like Solano County Fair or the State Fair might work this year. Both are towards the end of July beginning of August) But until then, I'll try and update when I can.

Go check it all out and let me know what you think! This has been a total labor of love over the past month. I am glad its pretty much (99.9%) done! I love the new look and I am excited for the way things have been streamlined and I think you will too! I wanted to focus more on YOU, the client, when diving into this big project of mine and I hope that when you check things out, you feel that love and see the thought that went into everything, just.for.you!
My hopes are that JEP can grow a bit this year (despite the maternity leave I have to take this summer) and I am excited to see how it goes. It could be a total flop too...believe me it has crossed my mind, but I'm optimistic that wont be the case!
As always thanks for all your support! I am so lucky to have so many return clients. It makes me happy and reaffirms to me that I am making you happy too :)
I am excited that I have expanded into the cool new world of FACEBOOK! I know, I know, I am WAY behind the times but its better late than never right?!
I LOVE my instagram and I hope that if you are on there too, you'll follow me and play along with my monthly photo contests! Each month will have a theme and a special hashtag for you to tag you pics with. Then, every week I will post a few of my favorites! I can't wait to see your work.

Usually I would have announced the annual COCO County Fair Mini Session availability dates last week but after looking at SEVERAL weather reports I will not be doing them this year... BUMMER! These are such fun sessions for me to do. Hopefully summer will arrive on time next year.

PROTECT these little ones
*I almost didn't post this but I think its really important to spread the message.*
So far this year, I have been blessed with the great privilege to meet, hold, adore and photograph these 4 precious babies, one of them being my very own. I.LOVE.MY.JOB! But I know that with my job comes great responsibility to make sure that these little guys are happy, secure and safe when with me and that is one of the many reasons WHY I got my Dtap booster shot. Incase you haven't heard, PERTUSSIS also known as Whooping Cough has been declared an EPIDEMIC here in the fine state of California. Can you believe it?! An EPIDEMIC?? So far 5 babies have died from it this year alone and the year isn't over yet! To young adolescents and adults, whooping cough acts like a cold or bad cough so you might not even know you have it BUT to a baby, it could be deadly! We need to protect those who are too little to protect themselves. I hate to use this blog for anything other than a way to share my photography but as a new mom myself and knowing so many other women having babies this year, this scares me! Not only do I want to protect MY baby but I want to protect YOUR baby as well so no more families have to suffer a lose like this family did. PLEASE, go get your Dtap adult booster shot, keep washing those hands and tell those you love about it. It could save a babies life.

Summer Photo Contest
So the first photo contest I was ever brave enough to enter was a SUMMER theme. I thought it was a long shot but did it anyway. I was totally shocked when I received an email informing me that I had made the top 5 out of 200+ entries!! I didn't win but it was still an honor. That contest was a year ago and in honor of that milestone in my photo life I would like this months entries to be a summer theme, whatever that means to YOU!
The rules are as follows:
1. Take a photo with a "SUMMER" theme. It can be anything. Get creative!
2. Email one photo per person to: jacquelinesphotography@yahoo.com by WED, JUNE 17th midnight!
3. Top 5 photos will be posted on THURSDAY for YOU, the public to vote on.
4. WINNER will be announced MONDAY, JUNE 22nd and will receive an awesome prize! (its a surprise)

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my photo of the 2008 CoCo County Fair won 1st place in its division! I found out Friday night and collect my $30 prize Monday (whoot whoot). Although I am so happy to have been chosen for 1st place, I wonder about who these "judges" are sometimes (well, every year actually) bc some of the other winners were, well, questionable... but its just the county fair I guess. I'm just glad I finally entered something after all these years of shoulda woulda coulda's and can't believe I actually won a prize! Now I'm looking forward to the Celebration of Art Contest in 2 weeks! I received an Honorable Mention last year so maybe I have a shot of placing this year!!
Okay, I'm done tooting my own horn now :D
County Fair Contest
The Contra Costa County Fair is coming to town the end of this month and there is still time to enter art into the Exhibit! The only way to enter is online HERE. Entry forms and dues are due by May 10th, that's this Sunday! I am entering these two photographs below into the
'Fair and Historical Prints' division.
There is an amateur and professional division and cash prizes for winners. I just wanted to make sure i spread the word about this because I have wanted to entry something for as long as i can remember but always missed the deadline. I somehow got luck this year and caught it just in time. I know that a lot of my readers out there are amateur photographers so this would be a great place to showcase your work! I want to enter something into the professional division but not sure what yet... any suggestions??

I always seem to have something funny or weird happen to me that I think would be entertaining to share but never important enough to make a whole blog post out of soooo i guess i can twitter it now!
