Yep, this little cutie pie was born on the infamous 11.11.11. She is a doll. She couldn't be more loved by 2 people either. But the thing I will always remember about this shoot is the constant loop of Miley Cyrus' The Climb and Trains Soul Sista playing in the background. I think I had both songs memorized by the end of the shoot. You see, those 2 songs are the only thing that would sooth baby Miley for the shoot so we kept that ipad handy at all times. Thank you so much for allowing me to come into your home and take these photographs.

Mud Puddle Adventure!

What a CRAZY fun adventure we had on this shoot! The mud puddle was too irresistible for these kids to pass up and luckily they have a mom who is cool enough to let them play in it! My niece just moved back to California and her mom thought it was time to get some new school pics done since the last set we did was for Kindergarten. She wasn't to keen on the idea of posing for pictures at first but slowly got into it. She has such good posing ideas. I let her take the reigns on that since Im not a fan of posing myself. while rummaging through old photo files I came across this photo taken back in 2008 on a road trip to San Diego. As I looked at the photo I could remember details of the day vividly, the sand beneath my toes, the smell of the ocean, the silliness of the day. The planes were coming so close to the beach and flying so low to the water. I had never seen that before. It was a fun day. I love the power of photography.

My good friend Roxanne comment on my last finding inspiration post with THIS wonderful source of photo inspiration by photographer Skye Hardwick. She will be posting more images from this series in posts to come! This sort of project is RIGHT UP MY ALLEY! The images are pure beauty and so is the concept. I am in love in EVERY WAY. This really makes me wish Max was older or at least walking proficiently so I could do something similar with all of Brads vintage American Flags. I think these finding inspiration series are starting to get the wheels a turnin again.

Ever since the New Year, I think I've been in a photo funk! I just haven't had the urge to pick up my camera. Its just sat on my desk collecting dust... so yesterday, I picked it up and followed Max into his room and snapped a few photos of my newest 1 year old! He loves playing in his room because thats where all his books are. He loves to read! I love that about him.

I'm glad I finally made myself pick up my camera and try to get back into the groove of things again. I want to plan some sort of personal photo project because I feel like I really need to do something to challenge my skills a bit more. I think I'm just in a rut or something. Hopefully I can get my creative wheels spinning and figure out a way to be inspired again. I'll keep you all posted because I'm sure all 3 of you that read this blog are dying to know!

I LOVE meeting new families and I LOVE this family! They have some of the CUTEST looking girls, super nice and up for anything. Their only request: We want the city and the bridge as our backdrop. So we met down on the wharf and went from there. Unfortunately we were unable to get any sunset shots which they really wanted due to the weather & the clouds made for an early sun down but we made the most of it and got some really fun shots! We even got creative once it was dark outside by finding a little bookstore to explore. Thanks for a great evening guys. We hope to see you all again!

PS: remember how I love finding little surprises in photos, well I found a fun one in the 1st shot of them walking across the street! Look at the cross walk sign... it shows the #4 and they are a family of 4! I thought that was pretty cool!

I was so happy when my cousin-in-law, Trista, called me to schedule a quick family session for the holiday. They've never had professional photos taken of their family and she thought it was about time to bite the bullet and get it done since they've added a new edition to the family! It was cold, drizzly, and foggy BUT we found an awesome spot FULL of color that ended up being the perfect spot for this family. The girls were fully of energy, mom & dad were up for the challenge and so was I and I think we pulled it off. Anytime I get to be involved in a leaf fight, its a pretty good day!

Ellis Wedding

It all started with a call, a call from a frantic mother of the bride in need of a photographer for her daughters wedding which was in 3 days! The photographer they hired, who was out of state, had a personal family emergency and so they had to scramble to find a replacement. Luckily they got their hands on my number. I wasn't sure if I could make it all work on such sort notice but I did and I am so happy to have been apart of their special day! Heidi and Phil are AWESOME. Everything went down with out a hitch. I hope that they enjoy the way I saw their "fairy tale" (their wedding theme) day through my camera.

PS: How often does one get to photograph a couple who owns cool swords and knows how to use them?! So glad they brought those!!

This was a great session, in a great house, in a great room with a great little family. Baby Rene has the sweetest room full of antique baby knick nacks that her grandma has collected and they have adorn the walls with the COOLEST vintage looking wallpaper... it's totally decorated in my style giving me a great backdrop for this shoot. I am really happy with the 'real life' feeling of this shoot. Each photo seems like I was, there following them around while they went about their daily routine. It's perfect. Congrats on the beautiful baby girl. She's a doll.

*I almost didn't post this but I think its really important to spread the message.*

So far this year, I have been blessed with the great privilege to meet, hold, adore and photograph these 4 precious babies, one of them being my very own. I.LOVE.MY.JOB! But I know that with my job comes great responsibility to make sure that these little guys are happy, secure and safe when with me and that is one of the many reasons WHY I got my Dtap booster shot. Incase you haven't heard, PERTUSSIS also known as Whooping Cough has been declared an EPIDEMIC here in the fine state of California. Can you believe it?! An EPIDEMIC?? So far 5 babies have died from it this year alone and the year isn't over yet! To young adolescents and adults, whooping cough acts like a cold or bad cough so you might not even know you have it BUT to a baby, it could be deadly! We need to protect those who are too little to protect themselves. I hate to use this blog for anything other than a way to share my photography but as a new mom myself and knowing so many other women having babies this year, this scares me! Not only do I want to protect MY baby but I want to protect YOUR baby as well so no more families have to suffer a lose like this family did. PLEASE, go get your Dtap adult booster shot, keep washing those hands and tell those you love about it. It could save a babies life.

They do a different themed contest every week.

This week was babies and so I thought, what the heck, I've got a cute baby, I'll enter a pic of him! We'll see how it goes, they have over 700 entries thus far, so chances are slim but how can they not fall in love with this little guy!? Wish us luck!

First mini session is DONE! SOOOOO much fun, thats all I can think to say!

I will most definitely be doing these again next year, so plan ahead families. I always love photographing the Roberts because every shoot i do with them is so full of bright color! We couldn't have asked for better weather either. Just a really great shoot with some really great people. I have to admit, I always love racing home after a shoot so i can download all the photos and see how I did and every once in a while I get a little surprise and I was excited to get one with this session. Its located in the last shoot posted, if you look to the left you'll see the sweet candy lady starring and smiling at the kids... so happy I caught that! I think it makes the shot that much more awesomer!

She is one lucky little lady, she has a brother and sister who love her so much! They just want to take care of her and love on her. Again, this little one did not want to sleep on minute of the session but I don't know why I was surprised, it happens EVERY TIME! That's okay, we still got some beautiful shots of this 1 week old. I was so happy that we could go outside for the shot in the flowers. I've never been able to take a newborn outside before! They turned out awesome. Hope the family is in love with them just like I am!

Senior Ball 2010

My mom 'hired' me to be the photographer for the afternoon since it was my brothers Senior Ball. Doesn't he look oh so handsome fin his white tux! They got to head to the dance in style with an awesome limo (i never got a limo for prom!) and hopefully had a fun nigh dancing the night away. MY MAX

I always thought that once I had my own baby to photograph, I would have my camera in my hand every minute capturing it all on film. Well, things aren't quite that easy. Max really isn't a fan of getting his picture taken but I do have to admit, he is quite tolerant of me. What I have been doing is trying to fit in a mini session each day and its worked out quite well. Here is a peek at what I've got so far!

I am so in love with my little family. We are having a blast staring at Max, playing with him, singing to him, and sleeping with him everyday.
Life can't get much better than this!

Max was in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) for the first 4 days of his life.
These pics were taken the day he got to leave the NICU and stay with his mommy and daddy for the first time.

It was a great day.

Do I have the CUTEST niece or what!?

I was asked to take my nieces Kindergarten pics while they came to California to visit and I was very honored to do so. Ryli was more interested in playing with all the pretty leaves than posing for pics but I managed to get a few good shots that I think will do the trick. I just love fall with all the bright colors everywhere and I LOVE my niece! She's growing up too fast!

I was so excited when I got the call for this engagement session! Its been a LONG time since I've had the chance to do one and it was a lot of fun. We went to 3 GREAT locations and I got a TON of awesome shots. The only bad part of the shoot was almost getting attacked by three dogs!! Scariest moment ever! Here is the LAST installment of Baby Crew & the Andrus Family.

B&B were such troopers for these family shots. It was like a million degrees in there room during the shoot and they all had to be right on top of each other. But they hung in there and I hope they think it was worth it for these timeless photos. Aren't they a sweet sweet family?! I am in love with so many photos!! I did a lot more posed shots during there session than I usually do so that was a bit more of a challenge for me. I had some great laughs, caught some special moments and took some of my newest favorite pics to date! Thanks for everything you guys!! I can't wait for the next family photo session when Crew walks!

Twin Birthday Girls

My good friend Meredith's second set of twin girls turned 1 over the weekend and they asked me to come and document the joyous occasion! So the first photo contest I was ever brave enough to enter was a SUMMER theme. I thought it was a long shot but did it anyway. I was totally shocked when I received an email informing me that I had made the top 5 out of 200+ entries!! I didn't win but it was still an honor. That contest was a year ago and in honor of that milestone in my photo life I would like this months entries to be a summer theme, whatever that means to YOU!
